BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bluefield State University proudly hosted another successful edition of the annual Klinginsmith Golf Tournament on Monday, May 19, celebrating both a cherished tradition and the legacy of a beloved educator. The event brought together alumni, students, faculty, and friends for a day of golf, fellowship, and fundraising at the scenic Fincastle Golf Course.
Named in honor of David Klingensmith, a longtime professor and division chairman at Bluefield State, the tournament serves a dual purpose: to raise funds for the School of Engineering Technology and Computer Science and to provide meaningful networking opportunities among Bluefield State students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals.
“The Klingensmith Tournament is more than just a day of great golf,” said Dr. Darrin Martin, President of Bluefield State University. “It’s a gathering of people who believe in the power of this institution. We are thankful to everyone who participated, sponsored, and volunteered to make this year’s event one of our best yet.”
This year’s four-person scramble once again drew an enthusiastic field of participants and strong community support. Proceeds will directly benefit scholarships, lab upgrades, and academic initiatives within the School of Engineering Technology and Computer Science.
As Bluefield State continues its mission of offering career-focused education grounded in tradition and innovation, the Klinginsmith Tournament stands as a symbol of the university’s enduring values: community, excellence, and opportunity.
