MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Deputies with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after a man was found dead Saturday night in the Trail Hollow area near Iaeger.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a welfare check call around 10:30 p.m. on February 21, 2026. When they arrived at the location in Trail Hollow, they discovered a deceased male.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, stating that the name is being withheld to allow family members time to be notified.
Officials said a suspect is currently in custody on an unrelated charge.
However, investigators have not confirmed whether that individual is connected to the death.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation. No additional details have been released at this time.
