VICTOR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for approximately 25 customers along Gaymont Mountain Road in the Victor area of Fayette County.
The advisory was put in place due to a valve hit by the West Virginia Department of Highways, and crews are working to replace it as quickly as possible.
Water service restoration is estimated for 3:00 p.m. today.
Until service is fully restored and testing confirms water safety, customers in the affected area are advised to boil their water before use.
Water should be brought to a full boil for at least one minute before cooling and using it for drinking, cooking, bathing, or brushing teeth.
Once the system is recovered, West Virginia American Water will collect additional water samples for testing, a process that takes at least 24 hours.
Customers will be notified once the advisory is lifted.
The company has also provided the following recommendations:
Discard any beverages or ice cubes made with tap water. Keep boiled water refrigerated for drinking. Provide pets with boiled and cooled water.
Avoid using home water filters as a substitute for boiling or bottled water. Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries.
