MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A boil water notice has been issued for customers on Main Street in Mount Hope following a water line issue reported on October 27, 2025.
City officials said a leaking line caused possible contamination within the affected area.
The line has since been repaired, and crews are currently flushing the system and testing for bacteria.
Customers are urged to boil their water before use until further notice.
Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or any other consumption-related purposes. Bottled water is also safe to use.
The city estimates the problem may be resolved within three days, pending test results.
The notice emphasizes that while contamination has not been confirmed, the water system cannot rule out the possibility.
For additional information, residents may contact William Greives at 304-877-3012 or write to P.O. Box 151, Mount Hope, WV 25880.
