CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that the federal government has approved his request for disaster assistance in Boone and Raleigh counties following February’s severe flooding.
Raleigh County has been granted both Individual Assistance (IA) and Public Assistance (PA), while Boone County will receive Public Assistance.
“As southern West Virginia continues to recover from February’s flooding, we’re grateful to receive federal assistance in two additional counties,” said Governor Morrisey.
“The Trump administration and FEMA have been supporting us every step of the way as we work to aid West Virginians in the recovery process.”
With the latest approval, Individual Assistance is now available in Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
Public Assistance has been granted in Boone, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
The Individual Assistance (IA) Program provides financial aid to individuals whose homes or property sustained significant damage.
The Public Assistance (PA) Program offers grants to state and local governments and certain non-profits for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and infrastructure repairs.
FEMA is still reviewing requests for assistance in additional counties. Residents in designated areas can apply for Individual Assistance by visiting FEMA’s website.
