SETH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man accused of assaulting his wife and children during a Christmas Eve domestic dispute last year was taken into custody after deputies attempted to serve a warrant at his home this past weekend.
According to court documents, on December 24, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Prenter Road in Seth for a report of a domestic altercation in progress. When officers arrived, they found the victim and her children visibly shaken.
The victim told deputies her husband, Curtis Doss, had been drinking most of the day and became violent after she asked him to leave to avoid a fight, as the family was preparing to open Christmas presents. Doss allegedly began yelling, pushing, and punching the victim, slamming her against a wall before throwing her to the ground.
Her teenage son intervened in an attempt to stop the assault but was also struck by Doss, according to the report. Another child told deputies they witnessed their mother being thrown to the ground and both siblings being punched before Doss fled the home.
The incident took place in Boone County, West Virginia, and led to warrants being issued for Doss’s arrest.
Nearly a year later, on October 25, 2025, Boone County deputies attempted to serve those warrants at the same residence on Prenter Road. Deputies saw Doss enter the home, but his wife, Vanessa Doss, confronted them outside and confirmed he was inside before returning indoors and locking the door, preventing deputies from immediately pursuing him.
Authorities say Vanessa Doss’s actions allowed her husband time to hide and created a substantial risk of serious injury to her 14-year-old child, who was one of the alleged victims in the previous child abuse case.
Both Curtis and Vanessa Doss are facing charges related to the ongoing investigation.
