BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Boone County man has admitted to illegally passing a stopped school bus after video footage captured the dangerous incident earlier this month.
On Thursday, June 19, law enforcement was contacted by Brian Linville, Director of Transportation for Boone County Schools, regarding a video showing a dark-colored Chevy Silverado passing a school bus with its stop arm extended and warning lights activated.
The video, emailed directly to authorities, clearly shows the truck ignoring the stop signal as a juvenile girl stood near the roadside. A woman, believed to be the child’s mother, is seen grabbing the child by the arm to prevent her from stepping into the path of the vehicle.
Deputies were able to identify the vehicle and traced it to 1021 Low Bridge Lane in Seth, where it was parked in the driveway. The registered driver, Jason Thomas, initially denied operating the truck in recent days. However, after being shown the video footage, Thomas admitted to passing the stopped bus.
The incident took place approximately four miles south of WV Route 3 on County Route 5.
