JEFFREY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Boone County woman is facing charges after authorities say she assaulted her mother, fled from an officer during an attempted arrest and was later found with suspected methamphetamine.
According to a law enforcement report, an officer responded to the Jeffrey Post Office on Hewett Creek Road on Thursday, August 13, for a reported domestic incident.
The victim told the officer she had heard her daughter, identified as Sarah Miracle, arguing with a man nearby. She said she approached Miracle and pleaded with her to get clean.
During the encounter, Miracle allegedly slapped the victim across the face with an open hand.
The officer reported seeing redness and finger-like marks on the victim’s left cheek and photographed the injuries.
A warrant was later obtained for Miracle’s arrest.
The following day, Friday, August 14, an officer spotted Miracle walking across the Jeffrey Bridge toward the post office. Police said Miracle immediately ran after noticing the officer.
A foot pursuit followed, with Miracle allegedly fleeing toward the riverbank. The officer attempted to use a TASER, but the deployment was unsuccessful.
Police said the chase continued for approximately 15 minutes before Miracle surrendered and was taken into custody.
During a search following the arrest, the officer reported finding a piece of foil in Miracle’s pocket. According to the report, Miracle identified the substance inside the foil as methamphetamine.
The incidents occurred in Boone County.
The charges are allegations, and Miracle is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
