Summersville – Nicholas County shook off a slow start Saturday to defeat Midland Trail 57-55 for its first win of the season.
Colby Pishner led the Grizzlies (1-6) with 20 points including 11 in the final quarter. Ethan Collins scored 10, while Gage Groggs added nine and Briar Bailes scored eight.
John Paul Morrison led the Patriots (4-2) with a game-high 23 points and Matthew Light scored 13.
Nicholas County travels to Independence Monday and Midland Trail hosts Summers County Tuesday.

Baker – Noah Lang scored a game-high 32 points and Justin Teets added 25 to lead East Hardy past Meadow Bridge in round one of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament Saturday.
Dawson Price added 16 for the Cougars and J.W. Teets had eight.
Conner Mullins scored 22 for the Wildcats, while Rian Cooper had 16. Seaton Mullins scored 12 and Jaden Gladwell had 11.

Princeton – Sam Boothe scored 38 points, helping Mercer Christian overcome a 26-18 halftime deficit to beat Morgantown Christian 56-50 Saturday afternoon at Mercer Christian.
M.J. Patton added 10 points in the win while Harrison Linkous led Morgantown Christian with 34 points.
The Cavaliers improve to 12-3 and will travel to Man on Tuesday.

New Richmond – Tanner Whitten scored 28 points and hauled in 11 rebounds as Wyoming East beat Independence 83-62 Saturday evening in New Richmond.
Garrett Mitchell, back after serving a one-game suspension, scored 17 points, hauled in nine rebounds and dished out seven assists. Tucker Cook added 16 in the win and Cole Lambert was East’s fourth scorer to reach double figures, notching 12 points.
East improves to 4-3 and will host Mingo Central on Monday.
