Huntington 74, Spring Valley 58
Charleston – After dropping the sectional title game to Spring Valley earlier this month, Huntington exacted some revenge on the biggest stage.
Placing four players in double figures, the Highlanders rolled past the Timberwolves 74-58 in the Class AAAA quarterfinal round of the boys state basketball tournament Wednesday.
Jayden Clark led Huntington with 19 points, while Tayveon Wilson added 13 points and had six rebounds. Mikey Johnson had a double-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Taviun Chandler also had 17 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Tate Adkins scored 19 for Spring Valley. Keyan Grayson added 13 points and had eight rebounds. Colton Caldwell finished with 11 points and also had eight rebounds.
Huntington will now play the winner of No. 2 Morgantown and No. 7 Wheeling Park Friday at 9:30 a.m.
