Morgantown 35, Spring Mills 32
Charleston – Morgantown senior Sharron Young ended his high school career in storybook fashion Saturday inside the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With the No. 2 seeded Mohigans down 32-30 in overtime of the Class AAAA championship game, Young drilled a 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining, leading to a 35-32 win over No. 1 seed Spring Mills.
The win marked the third straight state championship title for Morgantown.
Young finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and five steals to lead the Mohigans and was named tournament’s most valuable player.
Brady Savage, who joined Young on the all-Tournament team, scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Caleb Thomas, Akwasi Opoku-Achampong and Xavier Anderson were name to the all-Tournament team for the Cardinals.
Thomas had 14 points and nine rebounds, while Opoku-Achampong scored nine.
Taviun Chandler and Tayveon Wilson from Huntington earned All-Tournament honors, along with Mykel Davis from Wheeling Park.
