Morgantown 71, Huntington 56
Charleston – After dropping a lopsided game at the Battle for The Springhouse earlier in the year, No. 3 seed Huntington gave No. 2 seed Morgantown all it could handle Friday morning in the Class AAAA semifinal clash.
The two-time defending state champion Mohigans outscored the Highlanders 18-7 in the final quarter to pull away for a 71-56 win in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Morgantown will play the winner of No. 1 seed Spring Mills and No. 5 South Charleston in the Class AAAA title game at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
State Player of the Year candidate Sharron Young scored 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the two-time defending champs.
Brady Savage collected 15 rebounds and scored 10 points and Izzy Everett added nine points.
Tayveon Wilson scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Highlanders and Jayden Clark scored 14 points.
