Greater Beckley Christian opened the boys basketball season with a 78-51 win over Mercer Christian Saturday.
Kaden Smallwood led a balanced attack with 17 points, while Kendrick Wilson scored 14 and Sherlock Padmore had 12.
John Rose chipped in nine and Azel Carmichael scored eight for the Crusaders.
Mercer Christian’s Sam Boothe led all scorers with 29 points.
Greater Beckley hosts James Monroe Tuesday in an early season showdown of regional rivals.
