Charleston – Chapmanville led the entire way Saturday evening, fending off every Charleston Catholic charge in a 59-49 win over the Irish in the Class AA title game at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win caps a 23-3 season for the Tigers who earned their third title in program history.
Zion Blevins led the Tigers with 19 points while Brody Dalton added 16 but Sal Dean was the story again with momentum changing 3s in the second and third quarters that pushed the Chapmanville to three possessions both times.
Jayallen Turner led Catholic with a game-high 26 points in the loss, shooting an efficient 11 of 15 from the field.
Turner, Dalton, Dean and Blevins earned all-tournament honors and were joined by R.J. Hairston (Bluefield), Caleb Fuller (Bluefield), Max Wilcox (Charleston Catholic) and Parker Schramm (Williamstown).
