Tucker County 66, Huntington St. Joe 41
Charleston – Class A No. 1 seed Tucker County steamrolled No. 8 seed Huntington St. Joe in the first half to defeat the Irish 66-41 in quarterfinal action at the boys state basketball tournament.
The Mountain Lions shot 62 percent in the first half to build a 35-15 advantage. St. Joe was a lackluster 21 percent over the same going 4-of-19 from the field, including 0-for-7 from deep.
Tucker County will play the winner of No. 4 Webster County and No. 5 James Monroe in the semifinals, Friday at 11:15 a.m.
Ashton Lycliter led the Mountain Lions with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Trevan Bonner had 14 points and five rebounds, while Garrett Wilfong added 13 points and handed out five assists.
Micaiah Ehirim led St. Joe with 14 points.
