FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A portion of County Route 8/1, also known as Dempsey Road, will be closed beginning June 30 for a bridge replacement project, according to the West Virginia Division of Highways.
The closure will affect Dempsey Road at milepost 3.00 in Fayette County.
Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on June 30 and will continue daily through July 10, with the roadway closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.
Officials said the closure is necessary to allow for replacement of a bridge structure. The project schedule could be affected by inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
The WVDOH is advising motorists to follow posted traffic control signs, use alternate routes and exercise caution while traveling through the work zone.
The agency apologized for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
