WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Charleston Area Medical Center is taking health care on the road to patients throughout West Virginia.
CAMC recently received the newest addition to its mobile medicine fleet, a 36-foot mobile mammography vehicle, and a 48-foot mobile CT unit.
Both units also are comprehensive care clinics and were generously funded by Aetna Better Health® of West Virginia.
“Everyone deserves access to quality health care, regardless of their circumstances or location,” said Todd White, CEO of Aetna Better Health of West Virginia. “These mobile units will bring quality care to rural, under-resourced communities, improving the health and wellbeing of more individuals and families across the state.”
A special ribbon-cutting and dedication of the mobile unit fleet was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10th.
“Local, quality health care has been our goal through the years by expanding our mobile unit fleet, telemedicine centers and growing our services in our hospitals throughout West Virginia,” said Glenn Crotty Jr, MD, President and CEO, Charleston Area Medical Center. “We are committed to promoting health and wellness in rural West Virginia.”
These units expand Vandalia Health’s ability to reach patients who need specialized care but may face hardships with travel. The other units already in use include an ambulatory and telemedicine clinic, a unit specializing in at-risk individuals, addiction care and women’s medicine services and a mobile education and training lab for nurses.
