DAVIS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — West Virginia State Parks officials today announced that Canaan Valley Resort State Park is gearing up for an exciting winter season after completing upgrades to its ski area that will enhance the guest experience at one of West Virginia’s top winter destinations.
“From the thrill of fresh snow to the stunning mountain views, Canaan Valley continues to show why West Virginia is a world-class winter destination,” said Dillard Price, acting chief of West Virginia State Parks. “With these upgrades, we’re enhancing the quality, reliability and excitement of winter tourism in Almost Heaven.”
Supported by a $6 million investment from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR), upgrades include a new snowmaking pump house designed to deliver more efficient and consistent snow coverage across the mountain and a new snow groomer that will improve the smoothness and quality of slopes throughout the season.
Canaan Valley Resort features 47 trails across 850 skiable acres and sits within the highest mountain valley east of the Mississippi River. In addition to alpine and Nordic skiing, the resort offers snowboarding, snow tubing and ice skating. After a day on the slopes, visitors can unwind in one of Canaan Valley Resort’s comfortable lodge rooms or cozy cabins. Guests can also enjoy a variety of dining options and social activities, from hearty mountain meals to après-ski drinks by the fire, making it easy to relax, refuel and soak in the beauty of winter in Almost Heaven.
