FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) visited Fayetteville Town Park on Monday to take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the park’s new Bike Skills Area.
The project is part of a broader initiative to expand outdoor recreation opportunities connected to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
“The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is one of West Virginia’s crown jewels and a place I have been proud to support for many years,” Senator Capito said during the event.
“I commend the work of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, Fayette County leaders, and countless others for capitalizing on the national park designation, working hard to create unique outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages, and for their commitment to enhancing visitor experience. I look forward to continuing to champion New River Gorge for years to come.”
The new Bike Skills Area aims to provide residents and visitors of all ages with a space to practice and enjoy biking in a controlled, skill-building environment.
The project reflects ongoing regional efforts to strengthen tourism and outdoor recreation in southern West Virginia.
