CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Jim Justice announced on Tuesday the appointment of Carl “Bill” Roop to the West Virginia House of Delegates as a Raleigh County representative for the 44th District.
The development follows the appointment of former 44th District representative Todd Kirby, who was appointed earlier in the month as a Raleigh County Circuit Judge. Kirby’s appointment also follows time spent serving as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Roop has served as an attorney in the Raleigh County area for years and received support from the Raleigh County Republican Executive Committee for his campaign to fill the vacancy left by Todd Kirby following the latter’s appointment as Circuit Judge.
He announced his intention to campaign for the seat in November of last year. He has also served in the role of County Attorney with the Raleigh County Commission.
