After a short hiatus the Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the boys and girls basketball season.
Below are the candidates for the first two weeks of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie.
- Gracie Harvey, Summers County – Harvey has helped the Lady Bobcats to a 4-0 start and has been stellar along the way. She’s scored in double figures in three of the first four games, averaging 13.7 points per game while also earning Rogers Oil Classic MVP honors.
- Abby Dillon, Beckley – Dillon has been the leading scorer in both games for a Beckley team that finished the week 1-1. She scored 17 in a loss to Parkersburg South and led a balanced effort with 11 points against Bluefield.
- Hannah Perdue, PikeView – Perdue helped the Panthers to a 2-1 record this past week. She scored 32 in the opener against Winfield and averaged 22.6 points per game on the week.
- Kierra Richmond, Shady Spring – Richmond was a scoring machine over the first two weeks of the season. She scored at least 20 points in four of Shady Spring’s first five games, recording a triple-double against Westside with 22 points, 10 Rebounds and 11 steals. She scored a season-high 28 against Grafton and sits just 64 points away from 1,000 for her career.
- Daisha Summers, Greenbrier East – Summers averaged 20.5 points per game over the first two weeks of the season, helping the Spartans to a 4-0 record to start the season.
- Sadie Boggess, Princeton – Boggess scored in double figures in each of the Tigers first five games, helping them to a 4-1 record.
