The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year. The first girls poll drops this week while the first boys poll will drop next week.
Below are the candidates for the first two weeks of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Monday at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills made a splashy debut. The Independence freshman averaged 27.6 points per game including a 41-point eruption in her second career game as the Patriots finished the first two weeks of the season with a 3-0 record.
- Riley Meadows, PikeView – Meadows, a sophomore, has taken on the scoring load following the graduation of all-staters Anyah Brown and Hannah Perdue. She’s averaged 18 points per game across the Panthers’ first four contests helping them to a 3-1 start.
- Maddie Stull, Princeton – Stull has been a dominant double-double threat through Princeton’s first three games. She’s 17.6 averaged points and 11.3 rebounds per game as the Tigers are off to a 2-1 start.
- Cadee Blackburn, Wyoming East – Playing alongside three first-team all-staters, Blackburn, a sophomore has made a name for herself early. She’s averaging 17.2 points per game for the 4-0 Lady Warriors who picked up wins against Class AAA No.10 PikeView, Class AA No. 7 Frankfort and Class AA No. 9 Ritchie County.
- Cadence Stewart, Greenbrier East – A veteran on a young team, Stewart has excelled early. She’s averaging 22.7 points per game for the Spartans who finished the first two weeks with a 3-1 record.
- Sullivan Pivont, Summers County – The Bobcats are off to a 3-0 start in large part because of Pivont’s work. She’s averaging 16.6 points per game with wins against No. 7 Frankfort, Class AAA Shady Spring and Class AAAA Hampshire.
- Abby Dillon, Beckley – Dillon has helped the Flying Eagles to a 1-1 start, averring 15 points per game after a 24-point outburst against John Marshall.
