The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the second week of the prep baseball season. Voting will close Thursday, Thursday March 5 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
If the the top vote getter has already won a community choice poll, the next leading vote getter who has not won will be named that week’s community choice winner.

- Gabe Patton, Greenbrier East – Patton batted .444 for the Spartans last week, leading them with eight hits and driving in three runs last week.
- Zack Jenkins, Princeton – Jenkins batted .667 for the Tigers last week, collecting 10 hits and driving in 12 runs during a stretch that saw Princeton go 4-0.
- Blake Stratton, Beckley – Stratton batted .500 and rove in five runs to help the Flying Eagles to a air of wins last week.
- Garrett Mitchell, Wyoming East – Mitchell batted .583 last week with seven hits to go along with four RBI. He also pitched 3.2 innings, striking out six and picking up a win on the mound.
- Cam Manns, Shady Spring – Manns pitched five innings, striking out 12 and allowing just one unearned run in a five-inning outing against Nicholas County. He also batted .500, driving in four runs across two games to help the Tigers to a 2-0 record.
- Zach Rose, PikeView – Rose scorched the ball, hitting .857 in seven at-bats, driving in six runs as the Panthers picked up three wins last week.
- Dale Boone, Greenbrier West – Boone batted .375 with seven RBI and pitched a complete game, striking out 10 in a win against Midland Trail.
- J.D. Monroe, Independence – Monroe pitched seven innings, allowing just one neared run while picking up a win. In the box he batted .500 with six hits, driving in a pair of runs.
- Alex Dempsey, Midland Trail – Dempsey batted .444 with four hits while driving in three runs. He was also credited with Trails only win on the bump last week, allowing one run in five innings of work.
