The Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for softball and baseball season.
Below are the candidates for the fourth week of the season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores throughout the week, WIN OR LOSE. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com. Doing so is simple. All you need to do is take a picture of the official scorebook for both teams, or a screenshot of the gamechanger box and send it to us.
Teams reporting scores this week: Independence, Wyoming East, Greenbrier East, Beckley, Shady Spring, Liberty, Westside, Bluefield, Midland Trail and Greater Beckley.
- Bryson Redmond, Bluefield – Redmond was 6-for-10 this past week hitting a double and driving in three runs as the Beavers wen 2-1.
- Jacob Howard, Wyoming East – Howard hit .693 this past week with three doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs and drew eight walks
- Michael McKinney, Independence – McKinney hit .429 this week with three home runs, driving in six runs. He also secured one win, pitching six innings and striking out nine.
- Andrew Pettry, Liberty – In a 10-9 win over Summers County, Pettrey collected four hits including a double and triple, driving in five runs.
- Jacob Meadows, Shady Spring – Meadows was 9-of-16 in five games this past week, hitting two triples, three doubles, scoring four runs and stealing four bases all while being named all-tournament for the Coppinger.
- Isaiah Patterson, Beckley – Patterson pitched 9.2 innings this past week, yielding six hits and two earned runs while striking out 17 batters. He finished the week 2-0.
- Reece Patterson, Greater Beckley – In an 8-1 win over James Monroe, Patterson pitched a complete game no-hitter, striking out 13.
