The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Dutch Miller and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a third year.
Below are the candidates for the fifth week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here

- RJ Hairston, Bluefield – Hairston scored 20 twice and finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in his third game as the Beavers went 3-0 this week.
- Averyk Woodson, Greater Beckley – Woodson scored in double figures three times with a week-high 25 against Independence.
- MJ Patton, Mercer Christian – Patton broke 20 points in all four games this week with a high of 27.
- Zyon Hawthorne, Beckley – Hawthorne averaged 16 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds for the Flying Eagles who picked up wins against Princeton and Capital.
- Eli Campbell, Midland Trail – Campbell averred 16.5 points per game for the Patriots who went 1-1.
- Malachi Lewis, Oak Hill – 19 over GE
- Sylas Nelson, Independence – Nelson scored 35 in a loss to PikeView and finished with 22 in a double-overtime win over Greater Beckley.
- Drew Damewood, PikeView – Damewood scored 18 points to lead the Panthers in a win against Independence.
- Konnor Fox, Wyoming East – Fox scored 12 points and was a defensive force in a 50-41 win over Westside.
- Braydon McClung, Greenbrier West – McClung scored 22 points for the Cavs in a win over Richwood.
- Ethan Collins, Nicholas County – Collins scored 18 points in a big win against Midland Trail.
- Ryan Mann, James Monroe – Mann scored 13 in James Monroe’s win at Pocahontas County.
- Jalon Bailey, Shady Spring – Bailey scored 16 points to help Shady to a win over Greenbrier East.
- Brayden French, Westside – French poured 28 points in a win over Lincoln County.
