The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Dutch Miller and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a third year.
Below are the candidates for the eighth week of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
Due to the snowstorms that canceled most of the games in Week 7, there will be two Player of the Week winners for Week 8.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills finished with a pair of double-doubles, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win and 18 points and 10 rebounds in a loss.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – Treadway averaged 23.5 points per game this past week for the Cavs, scoring 23 in a win over Midland Trail.
- Hanna Fuller, Greenbrier East – Fuller had a monstrous showing scoring 15 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in a win last week and adding 10 points in another win this week.
- Riley Meadows, PikeView – Meadows scored in double figures twice with a 20-point outing in a win.
- Cadee Blackburn, Wyoming East – Blackburn scored a career-high 37 points against Mingo Central earlier this week in a win.
- Kierston Rozell, Meadow Bridge – Rozell scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats to a win this past week.
- Kayley Trump, Mercer Christian – Trump was a scoring machine again this week with outputs of 21 and 19.
- Karsyn Paynter, Westside – Paynter poured in 16 points as Westside upended Independence earlier this week.
- Abby Persinger, Summers County – Persinger scored a team-high 16 points Saturday, leading Summers County to a big home win over Chapmanville.
- Mya Dunlap, James Monroe – Dunlap erupted for 20 points in a huge road victory at Greenbrier West.
- Cara Smith, Oak Hill – Smith scored 12 in a win over Liberty.
