The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Dutch Miller and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a third year.
Below are the candidates for the ninth week of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Wednesday, Feb 7 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here

Week 8 had two winners as weather led to the postponement of most games throughout Week 7.
- Somalia Nelson, Beckley – Nelson scored 11 points to key Beckley past Bluefield and 12 in a win at Mount View.
- Cadee Blackburn, Wyoming East – Blackburn hit a hot streak, scoring 21 against Mingo Central and 17 against No. 2 Summers County.
- Riley Meadows, PikeView – Meadows scored 24 points in a victory over Class AA No. 2 Summers County and 17 in a win over Graham, Va.
- Gracie Harvey, Summers County – Despite a pair of losses Harvey scored 16 points against PikeView and 14 against Wyoming East.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills recorded three 20-point double-doubles with a week high of 26 points as the Patriots went 4-0.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – Treadway scored 23 in a win at Webster County.
- Taysia Gray, Oak Hill – Gray scored 13 points in a win against Riverside and 17 in a loss to Greenbrier East.
- Rylee Brown, Westside – Brown scored 19 points in a win over River View.
- Kennedy Stewart, Greenbrier East – Stewart scored 20 against Oak Hill and 29 against Mingo Central, both wins.
- Bailee Martin, Mercer Christian – Martin scored 19 in a win over James Monroe.
- Chasity Kennedy, River View – Kennedy netted 33 in a win over Meadow Bridge.
