The Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the boys and girls basketball season.
Below are the candidates for the ninth week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores throughout the week, win or lose. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com. Doing so is simple. All you need to do is take a picture of the official scorebook for both teams and send it to us.
- Cole Chapman, Shady Spring – Chapman helped the Tigers to a 3-0 record this past week, scoring 14, 13 and 20 points in wins against Wyoming East, Westside and PikeView.
- Garrett Mitchell, Wyoming East – East finished its toughest week of the season with a 2-2 record in large part due to the contributions of Mitchell. He averaged 10.7 points per game, scoring 16 against Class AAAA Beckley and producing 10 points and 13 rebounds in a comeback, overtime win against Bluefield.
- Colby Pishner, Nicholas County – Pishner averaged 29 points per game this past week, helping the Grizzlies to a 3-0 record.
- Adam Seams, Greenbrier East – Seams averaged 14.6 points per game, helping the Spartans pick up huge wins against sectional foes Oak Hill and Beckley.
- Shad Sauvage, James Monroe – In the Mavericks’ only game this week Sauvage scored 21 points as they went on the road and beat Greenbrier West.
- Kris Joyce, Princeton – Joyce scored 17 and 14 points, helping the Tigers to wins over Beckley and Independence this past week.
- John Rose, Greater Beckley – Rose averaged 14.5 points per game as the Crusaders finished 2-0 this week. They picked up wins over Mount View and Mercer Christian.
- Cyrus Goodson, Independence – Goodson averaged 22 points per game, helping the Patriots to a 1-1 mark this past week.
