The Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the boys and girls basketball season.
Below are the candidates for the ninth week of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores throughout the week, win or lose. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com. Doing so is simple. All you need to do is take a picture of the official scorebook for both teams and send it to us.
- Hannah Perdue, PikeView – Perdue averaged 18.6 points across three games as PikeView defeated Class AAAA Princeton twice and likely secured home-court advantage in sectional play with a win over Shady Spring.
- Olivia Ziolkowski, Beckley – Ziolkowski scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a win against Greenbrier East. She added nine more points in a win against Princeton on senior night, helping the Lady Flying Eagles go 2-0 this week.
- Hannah Blankenship, Wyoming East – Blankenship averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as the Lady Warriors went 2-0 with wins over Mercer Christian and Oak Hill.
- Samiah Lynch, Oak Hill – Lynch scored 19 and 27 points on back-to-back, helping Oak Hill beat county foe Midland Trail in her 27-point outing.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – Treadway averaged 14 points per game, helping the Cavaliers to a 1-1 record this past week.
- Brooklyn Gibson, Shady Spring – Gibson stepped up on senior night, pouring in 16 points in a win over county rival Independence.
- Haley Hunnicutt, James Monroe – Hunnicutt averaged 18 points across two games, helping the Mavericks to a 2-0 mark.
