RIPLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Jackson County man has been sentenced in relation to hundreds of counts of sex-related offenses involving minors and multiple instances of incest.
John Lawson of Jackson County was convicted in December of 2022 of 136 counts following a week-long trial. Lawson was indicted and convicted for 30 counts of Incest, 22 counts of First-Degree Sexual Abuse, 2 counts of Solicitation of Minor via Computer, and 52 counts of Sexual Abuse by Parent.
The crimes, investigated by Deputy Julia Bowen with assistance from Detective Seth Fisher, Deputy Brandon Williams, and others, landed Lawson at South Central Regional Jail pending sentencing.
On Friday the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that Lawson has been sentenced to 554-1210 years behind bars for his role in the aforementioned crimes.
“This was one of the most vile, disgusting, and perverted cases in recent memory,” said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation notably also led to the 2020 arrest of Lawson’s wife, Janine Michelle Lawson, who was taken into custody for her role in the crimes perpetrated by her husband.
