The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the 11th week of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Thursday, Feb. 23 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
If the the top vote getter has already won a community choice poll, the next leading vote getter who has not won will be named that week’s community choice winner.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills scored in double figures three times last week, scoring 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds in a sectional loss to Shady Spring.
- Kayley Trump, Mercer Christian – Trump scored in double figures here times this week with a high of 28 points as the Cavaliers won the WVCAT title. Trump was named MVP of the tournament.
- Sullivan Pivont, Summers County – Pivont scored 17 points as the Lady Bobcats notched a win over Greenbrier West in their only game of the week.
- Kendra Pizzino, Shady Spring – Pizzino scored 20 points in a win early in the week and pitched in six as Shady defeated Independence in the sectional play in game.
- Keanti Thompson, Beckley – Thompson scored 13 points in a win over Oak Hill
- Abi Baker, Wyoming East – Baker scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds to go along with two steals as Wyoming East beat Princeton in the regular season finale.
- Cadence Stewart, Greenbrier East – Stewart scored 16, 27 and 32 points in three straight games, going over 1,500 points for her career. Her contributions helped East to a 3-0 record.
- Adyson Hines, James Monroe – Hines closed the season on strong note, averaging 22.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 6.3 steals per game in the final.
