The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the eighth week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Goose Gabbert, Greenbrier East – Gabbert crossed the 20 point threshold three times this week for the Spartans
- Cam Manns, Shady Spring – Manns averaged 20.6 points per game, helping Shady down Bluefield, Cabell Midland and Parkersburg South en route to earning the Springhouse title.
- Caleb Fuller, Bluefield – Fuller averaged 16.5 points per game for the Beavers who picked up a win against sectional rival Wyoming East.
- Cyrus Goodson, Independence – Goodson averaged 24.5 points per game with a 37-point showing in a win against Greater Beckley.
- John Rose, Greater Beckley – Rose continued his incredible scoring pace with a pair of 30-point games this week for the Crusaders.
- David Thomas, PikeView – Thomas averaged 16 points per game for the Panthers who picked up a pair of wins this week.
- Josh Burks, James Monroe – Burks scored 21 points in James Monroe’s lone win
- Dale Boone, Greenbrier West – Boone averaged 18.6 points per game for the Cavaliers this week, helping them to a 2-1 record.
- Ethan Collins, Nicholas County – Collins helped Nicholas earn a double-overtime win against Sissonville, scoring in double figures twice this week.
- Eli Campbell, Midland Trail – Campbell scored in double figures twice this week as Trail picked up a win over Greenbrier West.
