BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Beckley is seeking applicants for a variety of seasonal positions at local attractions and facilities, including the Exhibition Coal Mine, the Youth Museum, Beckley’s Historic Black Knight, and the Sharon Dempsey Pool at New River Park.
Available positions include gift shop associates, front desk attendants, and tour guides for the Underground Coal Mine and Mountain Homestead.
These roles, running from April through October, require strong communication and customer service skills, as well as knowledge of the local area.
The Sharon Dempsey Pool is hiring lifeguards and concession workers for the summer season from May through August.
Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old and hold a current accredited lifeguarding certification, while concession workers must have a food handler’s permit.

Beckley’s Historic Black Knight is looking to fill part-time positions, including a prep cook, responsible for food preparation and service, and a golf course superintendent, who will oversee course maintenance, turf management, and staff supervision.
The superintendent position is seasonal but may transition into a full-time role.
The golf course is also hiring golf shop staff to manage daily play, leagues, and events from April through October, as well as golf maintenance staff to handle mowing, tree trimming, and groundskeeping.
Applications will be accepted from March 3-7, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine and the Youth Museum, and on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at 509-513 Ewart Ave.
Applicants must be flexible with scheduling and enjoy working with the public.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required (except for lifeguards), along with a valid West Virginia driver’s license. Successful candidates must pass a drug screening and background check.
