BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Community members and local leaders gathered at Word Park on Tuesday for the return of the city’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Temperatures dipped below the 20-degree mark on Tuesday as participants gathered for the festivities. Among those attendance for the event were members of Beckley City Council, city department heads, Mayor Ryan Neal, and recently appointed Beckley City Manager, Michael Resare.
Mayor Neal did the honors of pushing the plunger for the tree lighting ceremony with assistance from several local youngsters.
Entertainment was provided for the ceremony by the Salvation Army Band who performed interpretations of many holiday classics. Additionally, hot cocoa was provided for the event by WVU Tech Culinary.
