BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Beckley and Just for Kids teamed with over a dozen community partners to host a Family Fun Day event at New River Park over the weekend.
Community members and multiple vendors joined in on the fun as local youngsters were afforded a prime opportunity to run, play, and socialize on a beautiful, sunny day befitting of such an event.
Available activities included beach ball volleyball, cornhole, foam and bubbles, various booth games, and more.
Just for Kids Operations Coordinator, Ria Mitchell, was enthusiastic about the City of Beckley having offered to host the event, stating, “We were ecstatic because their support in our organization exemplifies the purpose of this event.”
Kids in attendance had the chance to put their wheels on display in a bike parade which brought participants around the park area.
The Beckley Fire Department was also among the local entities to partake in the festivities, and children were given the chance to get up close and personal with actual firefighting equipment. They were also given much insight into the nature of firefighting, as well as what to do and what not to do in an emergency situation.
David Cook was on-hand to provide live, acoustic music for the Family Fun Day event, which got underway at 11:00am and ran through the afternoon.
