HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Hinton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of City Manager, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations and implementing the policies of the City Council.
The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer and leads all administrative functions of the city government.
According to the City of Hinton, the ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible managerial experience at a senior level in a governmental setting—preferably as a City Manager, County Administrator, or similar role.
A four-year degree in public administration, public policy, business, or a related field is required, with preference given to candidates holding a master’s degree in public or business administration.
The successful candidate will manage Hinton’s programs, services, budgets, personnel, and strategic planning efforts, and is expected to demonstrate expertise in public budgeting, staff management, community planning, and economic development.
Strong communication, human resource, and organizational skills are essential.
The City Manager will also supervise departments including Police, Fire, Public Works, Recreation, and oversee the city’s public utility services.
The position requires residency within the municipal boundaries of Hinton upon hiring.
Hinton is a full-service community located in Summers County with a population of 2,266, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.
The city offers a range of services typical of similarly sized municipalities in West Virginia.
Compensation for the position ranges from $65,000 to $79,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
