Wyoming East is looking around its section and seeing a lot of new faces.
Gone are Oak Hill, Liberty and Independence.
With the new realignment Westside and Wyoming East are the lone holdovers, joined by newcomers Bluefield and PikeView.
Still, it’s Wyoming East’s section to lose.
The Lady Warriors have gone 4-0 this season against sectional opponents Westside and Bluefield with mixed results.
Both wins against Westside were lopsided, as was one against Bluefield but in their second matchup against the Beavers, the Lady Warriors only won by a single run. During that game though the Lady Warriors were without starters Kayley Bane and Maddie Clark, both of whom were helping the basketball team win a state championship.
The only team in the section East didn’t get to play during the regular season was PikeView.
County rival Westside comes in as the No. 2 seed and handed 15-2 Man one of its two losses this season but hasn’t been able to replicate that success since.
Bluefield, the No. 3 seed appears to have turned a corner though and enters the postseason as a candidate to make some noise.
The Beavers finished the season 14-4 with their four losses coming from Shady Spring and Wyoming East. They beat PikeView twice, but both scheduled contests against Westside were canceled.
PikeView enters sectional play with a 4-18 record, but all four of its wins have come against Class A Montcalm.
The Class AA Region 3, Section 1 tournament will begin Tuesday with the higher seeds hosting each game.
