WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Derek Laxton, announced that Charles Edward Clark, 82, of Clear Fork in Wyoming County, entered a plea of guilty today to Sexual Abuse by Parent, Guardian, or Custodian.
Clark faces a potential sentence of not less than 10 nor more than 20 years in prison. He will be sentenced on July 29th, 2026 at 2:00P.M. in the Wyoming County Circuit Courtroom.
In early July of 2025, Sgt. Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into Clark after he was contacted by the minor victim’s mother, alleging that Clark had sexually abused her daughter. During his investigation, Sizemore concluded that Clark had sexually abused this minor, and after providing Clark with his Miranda warning, Clark admitted to exposing his genitals to the minor and admitted to asking her to touch his genitals. He was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse by Parent, Guardian, or Custodian.
Of the investigation, Laxton stated, “This case is an example of the exemplary police work conducted by our crimes against children investigator in the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Sizemore’s excellent police work directly resulted in this conviction. Crimes against children must be investigated thoroughly, and it is clear with the creation of the crimes against children investigator position that Sheriff Ellison and our deputies are doing all they can to combat these crimes. They should be applauded for their superb efforts.”
