CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service has forecasted cold and windy conditions across the region tonight, with light snow accumulations expected in the mountains.
Residents in lower elevations may also see some “festive flakes” as winter weather sets in.
The weekend will bring the coldest air mass of the season, with snow showers expected to persist into next week.
A weak disturbance could bring light snow Saturday night into Sunday, with accumulation estimates of one to two inches in the lowlands and higher totals in the mountains.
Sunday afternoon is expected to see upslope snow showers in and near the mountains, with scattered snow showers continuing through early next week.
Temperatures are forecasted to moderate slightly by midweek before another weather system moves into the area.
Residents are advised to prepare for cold weather and potential travel impacts from snowy conditions in some areas.
