Fairmont – Concord wide receiver Tywan Pearce broke the Mountain East Conference single-game receiving yards record with 288 yards on 10 catches as Concord fell 31-27 at Fairmont State on Saturday.
The performance from the senior receiver also broke the Concord single-game program record of 258, previously held by Thomas Mayo and established in 2010, also against Fairmont State.
As for the game itself the Mountain Lions led 20-17 at halftime and 27-24 late but a Fairmont touchdown with just over a minute left sealed the deal for the Falcons.
CU quarterback Jack Mangel had a career day as well, passing for 429 yards and connecting with Pearce on three of his touchdown passes. The pair connected on touchdown passes of 89, 41 and 74 yards.
The Mountain Lions drop to 1-3 on the season and host West Liberty on Oct. 9 for homecoming.
