BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission convened on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, for their Regular Session which saw discussion regarding the proposed name change of one Raleigh County road.
Agenda item 5.8 for Tuesday’s 10:00am commission session presented for consideration the renaming of Chastity Meadows, a private-drive style roadway in the Ghent area of Raleigh County just off of Flat Top Road.
Commission President Dave Tolliver presented a motion for approval of the renaming of Chastity Meadows near the midway point of the session, with a subsequent seconding bringing passage to the motion, thus rendering the newly christened Aretuza Drive an official part of Raleigh County’s geography.
Agenda item 5.7, scheduled for presentation just prior to the consideration for the renaming of what is now Aretuza Drive, entailed approval of the road closure of Ridge Drive in Crab Orchard, Raleigh County.
However, when it came time to address the agenda item, Commission President Dave Tolliver indicated that the road closure had been withdrawn before quickly moving on to the next item on the commission agenda.
Tuesday’s Regular Session of the Raleigh County Commission also addressed a number of grants and budget revisions, as well as consideration of county contracts.
