BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission convened Tuesday, making quick work of the week’s agenda which featured items such as budget approvals and revisions, as well as code ordinance adoptions.
Soon after the calling to order of Tuesday’s session, a request from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office was heard before the commission.
This request entailed reimbursements for various task force and security support supplied throughout the county to various businesses and organizations.
The total amount for the reimbursement was $33,897.39, and the request was made for the Sheriff’s Office Materials and Supply line. This figure was presented as having been earmarked for the purchase of new gymnasium equipment for the department building.
A motion for this reimbursement request passed unanimously.
Tuesday’s session also saw an approval request for the White Oak Water Project AML Pilot Program Drawdown Number 6 for $21,815.00.
“This water project, I’ve been told, hopefully in the next few months, they will actually start putting this in after about three years,” said Commission President Dave Tolliver of the ongoing project. “Water projects usually take three years, sewer projects – four and a half. So this one here is about ready to go.”
The project has been a topic of discussion for some time, cropping up in various commission meetings in 2021 – more on that here.
