ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — This summer, stories will come to life at Concord University. Young readers are invited to embark on a fun-filled literary adventure as Concord hosts an exciting reading camp designed to spark imagination, boost literacy skills, and inspire a lifelong love of books.
With interactive activities, creative lessons, and plenty of page-turning fun, the campus will be buzzing with the joy of reading — and eager readers won’t want to miss a single chapter! Broken into two age groups, guided educational activities are available from 9 a.m. to noon, July 14-18, 2025, and space is limited for this free activity.
Students will be separated into activities appropriate for grades K-2 and 3-5.
Each camp group will be led by graduate-level CU students working toward a master’s degree as a reading specialist, and participants will enjoy a host of entertaining, energetic activities built around a common educational theme. Along the way, the campers will mine for sight words, write creatively, learn about their surroundings, and more.
“All the activities will model a love of reading and the importance of literacy in each child’s life. The themes are always a surprise for the students,” Reading Camp Director Brenda Epling said.
Because space in each age group is limited, she recommended anyone interested in registering their children act now by visiting https://apps.concord.edu/forms/view.php?id=650229
