ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Concord University has been named to the 2025-26 Colleges of Distinction list, recognizing institutions that provide outstanding undergraduate experiences across the United States.
Each year, the Colleges of Distinction program identifies schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, focusing on engagement, great teaching, vibrant communities, and positive outcomes.
The program highlights schools that go above and beyond traditional rankings to deliver high-quality, student-centered education.
In addition to being named a national College of Distinction, Concord also earned recognition as a:
• West Virginia College of Distinction
• Public College of Distinction
• Business College of Distinction
• Education College of Distinction
• Nursing College of Distinction
• College of Military Support
According to the Colleges of Distinction website, “We believe that a great education is about more than just prestige—it’s about finding the right college for each student.”

The Colleges of Distinction selection process includes an evaluation of institutional data, interviews with school representatives, and outcomes-based research.
Unlike traditional ranking systems, Colleges of Distinction does not assign numerical rankings, instead focusing on unique strengths and student experiences.
“Concord has always been about people, our students, our faculty, and our community. This recognition simply highlights what we already know: Concord is a place to find your purpose and belonging,” said Dr. Amanda Sauchuck, CU associate provost and director of assessment.
Known for its welcoming community and scenic Appalachian setting, Concord University continues to emphasize academic excellence and career readiness.
The school offers programs in fields such as nursing, physician assistant studies, cybersecurity, and health sciences, providing students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
