ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the public have been invited to a community listening session pertaining to the currently ongoing search for the next Concord University President.
The session is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, beginning at 7:00pm in the Pais Fellowship Hall on the lower level of University Point at the Concord University campus.
It is the hope of session organizers that the session will help to ensure that the university’s next president, “truly understands and embodies the values and needs of the Concord community.”
Attendees are encouraged to engage in open and honest dialogue regarding the search, and it has been suggested that questions be posed during the listening session pertaining to qualities and experiences sought after in a president, as well as ways in which the next president can support students, staff, and faculty, as well as members of the greater community.
Concord University President, Dr. Kendra Boggess assumed the role of president in 2024 after decades of serving the Concord community in various roles. In July of this year, Dr. Boggess indicates that she intended to retire from the role in 2025.
“It is with a mixture of gratitude, pride, and a touch of sadness that I plan to leave The Campus Beautiful and embark on my future retirement plans,” Dr. Boggess said. “I have been consistently buoyed by an extraordinary community through every challenge. It has truly been the honor of my lifetime to represent and help build our community at Concord University.”
Following the announcement, a search committee headed by committee chair, Dr. Brad Lane was assembled to seek out a suitable replacement for Concord’s first female president.
“With Dr. Boggess’s announcement, it marks the end of a significant era of leadership and
dedication. Her tenure has been characterized by a commitment to academic excellence, student
success, shared governance, and community engagement,” said Dr. Lane. “The search committee will diligently seek a leader who can uphold Concord University’s values, traditions, and also bring innovative ideas to guide the institution into the future.”
