BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wolf Run Mining, LLC, a subsidiary of Core Natural Resources, Inc., has announced a reduction in its workforce at the Leer South mine in Barbour County.
In a statement to LOOTPRESS, the company says that approximately 165 employees across multiple departments will be impacted by this decision.
The company stated to LOOTPRESS that the reduction is attributed to the continued downturn in global metallurgical coal markets, which has created economic challenges for the company.
Wolf Run Mining stated that the move is necessary to ensure the mine’s long-term sustainability and maintain its competitiveness in the industry.
