THURMOND, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Cleanup work is set to begin on a coal train derailment that occurred in Thurmond Monday night.
An RJ Corman coal train that was coming from the Alpha Pax loadout derailed in Thurmond as it was entering the CSX mainline.
Close to 10 cars jumped the tracks. No cars were completely overturned.
RJ Corman and CSX crews are on-site Tuesday morning with heavy equipment.
The road into Thurmond will be closed as crews work.
