CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service is warning of strong to severe thunderstorms across the region Thursday afternoon and evening, with another round of storms possible Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, storms Thursday are expected to be most likely between noon and 10 p.m. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts, hail and heavy rainfall.
Damaging winds are possible across the area, with the threat continuing into Friday. Hail will also be possible, particularly along and west of the Blue Ridge.
Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms could lead to localized flash flooding across the region. The National Weather Service’s excessive rainfall outlook places much of the area under at least a marginal risk for flash flooding Thursday.
Additional strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Friday, bringing another threat of damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings and other weather alerts as storms develop.
