RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County woman is accused of stabbing her mother multiple times with a knife because she would not cut her hair.
According to West Virginia State Police, they were called to a home in Coal City due to Amber Welch, 37, having stabbed her mother with a knife numerous times. When police arrived, they found Welch being restrained by her father. Troopers detained Welch while they investigated.
The mother told police that her daughter, Amber Welch, had called her to her room; when she went, she observed Welch with a butcher knife and asked if she would cut her hair, which the mother declined. The mother stated she turned around and started to leave the room, and that is when her daughter began to stab her in the back with the knife viciously. Welch then pushed her mother to the ground, stuck her fist in his mother’s mouth, and stated, “Go to sleep.”
The father stated he walked to the living room and heard gasping in a separate room. Walking to the room, he observed his daughter on top of her mother. He then threw her to the ground and restrained her. Police say they located the knife, an 8-inch Max edge dagger, used in the crime.
Welch is charged with an attempt to commit murder, malicious wounding, domestic battery, domestic assault, and brandishing. She is in Southern Regional Jail under a 250,000 dollar bond.
