Mark Dean (R), who was first appointed in 2016, has won his third consecutive race for the 21st District of the House of Delegates against opponent, Phyllis White (D). District 21 covers parts of McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming County.
Dean is currently assigned to several committees including Education, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health and Human Resources, Political Subdivisions and Industry and Labor. As an educator since 2003 and a school administrator since 2005, Dean often speaks of the value he puts on education. In his 2018 race, Dean’s areas of priority were education, infrastructure and transparency. He is also the recently replaced vice-chair of the House Education Committee
